Guidance You Can Trust for What Comes Next
We help professionals and business owners navigate the transition from successful careers into financial independence through thoughtful strategy and personalized planning.
Our Story
New Horizons Boutique Financial Services was built on the belief that the most important financial decisions in life are also the most personal.
Too often, we saw people nearing retirement or major life transitions without a clear understanding of where they stood or what came next. Despite years of hard work and success, many were left navigating complex financial decisions without a cohesive strategy.
We started New Horizons to change that.
Our goal is to bring structure, clarity, and confidence to those decisions. By focusing on strategy first and building plans around each client’s unique goals, we help turn uncertainty into a clear path forward.
Because financial independence isn’t just about reaching a number. It’s about knowing what’s possible and having the confidence to act on it.

Our Philosophy
A Strategy-First Approach to Financial Planning
At New Horizons Boutique Financial Services, we believe financial planning should begin with strategy, not products.
Every client’s situation is different. That’s why we take the time to understand your goals, your priorities, and what you want your next chapter to look like before making any recommendations.
Our approach is built on clarity, education, and long-term thinking. We help clients make informed decisions by focusing on the full financial picture, not just isolated pieces.
The result is a personalized strategy designed to support financial independence, confidence, and long-term security.

Keith Willey

Keith J. Willey is a Partner with New Horizons Boutique Financial Services LLC. He holds FINRA Series 7, 63, and 65 securities licenses and is licensed for life and health insurance.
Keith works closely with clients to develop personalized financial strategies designed to help them pursue long-term financial security and independence. His philosophy emphasizes education and transparency, ensuring that clients fully understand the strategies and decisions that shape their financial future.
Originally from a small town in upstate New York, Keith moved to the Twin Cities in 2014 and quickly developed strong ties to the local community. His interest in financial planning was inspired by watching his grandmother navigate the complexities of her financial life later in retirement. Her determination to preserve her savings and avoid running out of money left a lasting impression on Keith and ultimately shaped his commitment to helping others plan confidently for the future.
At New Horizons Boutique Financial Services, Keith proudly represents the non-Engman branch of the partnership, bringing his own perspective and experience to the team while contributing to the firm’s collaborative, client-focused approach.
Outside of work, Keith enjoys bowling, basketball, golf, fishing, and spending time with friends and family. While Minnesota winters took some getting used to, he has embraced them by taking up snowboarding, reflecting his adventurous spirit and willingness to try new things.
Lars Engman works with professionals and families to design thoughtful financial strategies that support long-term independence and a confident transition into retirement.
As a Partner at New Horizons Boutique Financial Services, Lars brings both professional expertise and real-world perspective to helping clients navigate important financial decisions. Before beginning his career in financial planning, Lars served in the United States Navy, an experience that helped shape his disciplined and long-term approach to planning and leadership.
After completing his military service, Lars built a successful corporate career before eventually retiring and choosing to pursue his long-standing passion for financial planning. He holds Series 7 and Series 66 securities licenses and is licensed for life and health insurance in Minnesota and Wisconsin. His interest in investing began early when his mother introduced him to the Rule of 72, sparking a lifelong curiosity about saving, compounding, and long-term financial strategy. That interest deepened during his MBA studies, where he developed a strong foundation in financial planning and investment principles.
Originally from Lake Forest, Illinois, Lars raised his family in Woodbury, Minnesota, where he and his wife Julie still live today. They enjoy being close to their children, Garrett and Alec, and spending time with their growing family, including three grandchildren.
Outside the office, Lars enjoys sailing on the St. Croix River, golfing, and supporting organizations dedicated to Multiple Sclerosis research and awareness, including Minnesota’s MS 150. His commitment to family, community, and long-term perspective mirrors the same thoughtful approach he brings to helping clients plan for their financial future.
